John “ Jack “ Charles Crofts, born December 27, 1935 in Lander, Wyoming, passed away June 25, 2023 peacefully at his home in Denver, Colorado. A father of two sons (David and John) and loved by many as he left behind a legacy of kindness and quick wit. Jack was from a long line of Wyoming sheepmen and lived his early years helping the extended families of Leroy and Ada tend to a simple life in Lander. He would reminisce of the “ one shot antelope hunt “, tell long stories of resupplying the Basque shepherds in summer and spoke with fondness for his grandfather Lon Poston and his dislike for” puss-gutted bureaucrats”. Jack was a Sheepman at heart and had little regard for “ big government “. As Will Rogers once said “The only difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse every time Congress meets. “ In Jack’s own words as he would bid us farewell – “ keep your line tight and your powder dry. “
You will be missed and loved by many, farewell in your new journey…
