Last weekend, local students shined on stage at Central Wyoming College during the South Big Horn Basin Honor Band and Choir performance. Students from Riverton, Lander, Rock Springs, Farson, Green River, Rawlins, and Wind River delivered a day of special selections under the direction of SBHB Honor Band Director Jeremy Cochran and SBHB Honor Choir Director Dr. Andrew Crane.

Cochran is the CWC director of musical activities, and also performs trumpet as a member of the Central Wyoming Brass Quintet. He’s the musical director of Hot Notes Cool Nites summer concerts, and has previously taught in Minnesota and at George Mason University and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Crane is a member of Brigham Young University faculty, where he conducts the Brigham Young University Singers. He’s also served as director at East Carolina University and California State University. He also has a part-time career as a professional ensemble tenor and has sung in groups such as Seraphic Fire, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Yale Choral Artists, Spire Chamber Ensemble, Carnegie Hall Festival Chorus, and others.

Local students who participated in the Honor Band concert include Riverton students Sammy DeClerq on flute, Grace Jordan on flute, Bridgette Plumb on flute, LaVincia Brown on flute, Juliana Spradlin on Clarinet, Katherine Shields on clarinet, Kalli Stucki on clarinet, Jazmine Schierkolk on clarinet, Marci Lopez on bass clarinet, Caleb Peeks on alto sax, Tymberlee Stanley on baritone sax, Kerick Van Skike on trumpet, Cael Arbogast on trombone, Hadin Harding on tuba, Garrick McDonald on percussion, and Drea Daffron on percussion.

Lander students who participated in the Honor Band concert include Emily Anderson on clarinet, Felicity Olsson on clarinet, Harlee Ooten on bass clarinet, Jacob Neely on alto sax, Claire Lane on baritonesax, Micah Morgan on trumpet, Vera Walker on horn, Douglas Crawford on trombone, Asher Hall on trombone, and Randall Wise on percussion.

Representing Wind River were Sidnee Flint on clarinet, Nate Bowcutt on trumpet, and Ben Bowcutt on tuba.
