The new auditorium at Riverton High School is now being designed with a Construction Manager at Risk process, that is, a selected contractor working with the architect as the project progresses.

Three contractors are being interviewed, including BHI of Rock Springs; Groathouse Construction, Inc., of Cody; and Sampson Construction, Co., Inc. of Cheyenne. Groathouse is currently the contractor for the Maven Headquarters in Lander and Sampson is building the Central Wyoming College Ag and Equine Center in Riverton.

The new auditorium has been funded with $8.2 million by the state construction department. At a recent school board meeting, the 10-percent schematic drawings were shown to the board members from Plan1 Architects of Cody. Supt. Dr. JoAnne Andre-Flanagan said the new 500-seat auditorium would be built on the north side of the high school, right off the present classrooms for band and choir and adjacent to the main school entrance. That was the original location of the auditorium, but it was scrapped when the high school was build some 40 years ago for financial reasons.
