All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law:

Officers contacted a person who was sleeping in city park and, after waking him up, determined that he was intoxicated. Horace Sunrhodes, 32 from Riverton was arrested for Public Intoxication with a blood alcohol level of .343. at 1:55 p.m. on Friday.

Stopped for a broken tail light and when routine checks were run it was found that Shacyria Edmo, 28, Ethete had a county warrant and was arrested.

A  Local resident saw two individuals outside the 400 block of South 2nd East at 12:19 a.m. attempting to get into vehicles and he called police. While on the phone he kept them under observation and gave responding officers a running narration. Officers located the two and found them to both to be 17-year-old males, one From Riverton and one from Pavillion. Both were armed with three different pistols and both had numerous items they had stolen from unlocked cars around town including two of the handguns and prescription meds. Both were arrested and charged with Theft of firearms, burglary, curfew, possession and possession of a controlled substance. Both admitted to having broken into cars and said that they were only entering unlocked vehicles. People are reminded to lock their cars, especially if there are firearms present. Also: Check your vehicle to see if they may have been broken into as someone has missing meds and at least two handguns were stolen by this pair. And lastly: a big thank you from the RPD to the fellow who phoned this in and did such a good job of reporting.

Patrol Calls

A motorcycle was struck while parked at Smith’s Food and Drug at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. A report is pending. A suspect vehicle was identified. 

A School Resource Officer is following up on a number of text messages received by a student at the Riverton Middle School that constitute harassment. The complaint came in at 7:01 p.m. 

A theft from a motor vehicle was reported at 7:42 p.m. in the 800 block of South Federal. According to a police report, the victims parked their vehicles in the backlot of a business while they were out of town for a few days and returned to find the gas cap of one pried off and lying on the ground and several minor dents on the other vehicle.
